I'm on the Internet!!

Well, I feel totally out of the loop!  I've been able to read some blogs on my phone, but haven't been able to figure out the mobile blogging.  They say it's possible, but I don't have the patience to learn how.  I came to work with Farmboy today, so I'm borrowing their internet. :)  Here's a little bit of what's been going on in our world.  We've been working on the nursery some more.
This is the rocker/recliner we decided to get.  It's really nice and cushy!  Plus it's big enough to hold FB's long body comfortably.

My brother and sister-in-law gave us all of these goodies.  2 swings, 2 car seats with 3 matching bases, stroller to match, a bumbo, and a bouncy sleeper.  It's really really nice having a nephew about a year older than Daisy! :)  Just old enough to be growing out of stuff.

These are the curtains.  I couldn't get a good picture though.  I think I should have waited for night.  They were made for my house, when I lived by myself and could have pink curtains in the living room.  They've been in storage since I sold my house three years ago, so I'm really glad they're back in use!

We were also very blessed to receive two big boxes full of clothes!  A parent at my school gave them to us, she was so thoughtful and sweet.  She wouldn't let me pay her for any of it.  Now I've got a huge wardrobe of 0-3 month stuff that goes from hot to cold weather.  This is just one washer load of onesies and lightweight stuff to get her started.  I haven't washed any of the winter stuff yet.

Our baby shower is next weekend, so I'm looking forward to that!  Hopefully after that we'll be completely ready for Daisy.  If not, I'll be doing a little shopping to get us ready. :)  I've tried really hard not to buy stuff until then, but it's so hard.  Everything baby is so tempting to just pick up here and there.
This came in the mail yesterday!  Now Daisy will be ready to hit the road, or at least her stuff will be.  I'm not sure how soon this mama will be ready to hit the road w/ her, but we'll be ready when that day comes.  I found this on etsy.com.  One of my new favorite obsessions, well obsessions when I'm around internet connectivity!
For the most part this is what Holly and I have been up to this summer.  We both have decided it's entirely too hot (100's) to do any actual work around the house.  I think the weatherman said it hasn't been this hot for this long since 1954.  Guess that just adds to the future baby stories I get to tell my lil' girl.  ...When you were born it was the hottest summer on record...  I always loved when Mom would tell my baby story.  Anybody else get to hear their story, every single birthday?

Nursery After

Farmboy did basically everything by himself.  He had some help from my dad sanding the walls to get rid of the awful popcorn texture and to help put up the crown molding.  Other than that he's been a very busy guy... all alone.
He sanded, caulked, and fixed cracks, then he painted the ceiling.  We did invest in a cool sprayer doohicky, so that helped!  He painted the top tan and the bottom brown.  Followed by painting and putting up baseboards, chair rail, and crown molding.
This is the close up of the chair rail.
Carpet came yesterday!  When I got home FB was working on caulking around the crown molding, so I went in there and rolled around on the new carpet with Holly.  Which led to FB having to pick me up off the floor.  Remind me not to do that while this pregnant again. :)

Here is the final product!  Don't you love that fan??  I'm so glad the room is finally done!  My parents are coming out tonight with dinner and a crib delivery. :)  Very excited to get some furniture back in there (and out of the living room).

In other news... Today is the last day of summer school!!  I'm so ready to sleep in and stay home with Farmboy!  However, this means there will be a significant decrease in blogging. :(  We don't have internet at home, except on my iphone.  I still haven't figured out the mobile blog thing.  I have a feeling I'll be checking up on y'all and reading what you have to say, but only posting occasionally.  So... have a great Independence Day!

Nursery Before "the junk room"

This is what our extra bedroom used to look like.  White walls with weird popcorn texture (but only some and only in some places), plus the super tiny border at the top.  Did anyone know they made borders that small?? I certainly did not.  We used this room for storing junk.  It was set up to look like it maybe could be a spare bedroom with a bed and tv, but was never used that way.

This was also my getting ready space.  All my hair stuff, makeup, perfumes, lotions, jewelry, and whatever else went in this room.  Also to the left of this picture was Holly's crate, which she hated.
This was also my shoe and hat storage, since our little closet barely holds our clothes. Throw in a few wedding gifts that went unused, and a few odds and ends that we couldn't find a proper home for... now you've got an idea of what this room held.

Now here's a little bit of what condition the room was in!  Our house is from the 40's, so it's in need of some touch ups in most rooms.  FB has done quite a bit, but there's still plenty left to be done.

The weird gap/crack between ceiling and wall was an easy fix with crown molding.
This is what the poor hardwoods look like!  I can't believe anyone would let this happen to beautiful old hardwoods.  We decided to recarpet it since we were running low on time and mulah.
The ceiling was peeling from when we had a leak.  Leaks are no more since last fall's new roof! Yay!
FB took the ceiling fan down and I love the new one that is there now.
This is more of the ceiling, after a lot of work patching, before the sanding and painting happened.

Stay tuned tomorrow is the big reveal of the room renovation.  Also in the next week or two there will be a post which includes furniture. I can't tell you how nice it feels to have the room almost ready!!

Break the Ice

So I found this cool link with Jenn and perfectly imperfect.  I found that through Jessica at you are my color.  Anyway, I meant to post Friday but I got distracted.  That's happening more and more lately!  So here it is a few days late.  Next up are nursery renovation posts!

Perfectly imperfect Jenn

1) Tell one thing not many people know about you.

I doubt people realize just how much time I spend playing video games with my hubster.  We are addicted to Lego's Wii games.

2) If you HAD to change your first name, what would you change it to?

I can't think of any other name that would fit me.  When I was in Jr. High I wanted to be Alexa or something exotic like that.  ha That totally wouldn't fit me!

3) What are your 3 favorite songs of the moment?

Stuck Like Glue
Mama's Song
Anything from the Voice!  Loving that show right now.

4) List 3 goals on your life's to-do list:

Raise beautiful, well rounded, genuine children (yes more than the current one, possibly 4)
Impact the people around me in a positive, meaningful way
Follow the direction God has in store for our lives

5) What is one of your favorite quotes?
"Be the change you want to see in the world"  I can never remember who said that.

6) Fill in the blank: If I had an extra 10 dollars to spend . . I would buy __________?

Ticket to a movie, hopefully someone else has an extra 10 bucks to go with me.

7) What’s your birth date?

   November 26th, 1982   I'm a Thanksgiving baby

8) Do you have a hidden talent and if so what is it?

I can't really think of any hidden talents... I tie my shoes differently than every other person I know.  Including my family, I'm not sure how I learned if not from them...

9) What do you think of when you hear the word "blue"?

baby boys  I must have babies on the brain!

10) Finish this thought: I need . . .

   to get back to work.

The Giveaway Basket

Hopefully Niles and Frasier will enjoy their goodies.

Two Chilly Bones... a necessity for any Texas pup.  You just get it wet and freeze.  I haven't tried these, so Jessica will have to let us know if they're worth anything.
One of Holly's favs.. in blue instead of pink of course.  She especially loves it when I stick a big treat in the middle for her to shake out.  Actually I think she may kind of hate when I do that, she's lazy like her mama.
Two stuffing-free monkeys... for the dogs who rip the stuffing out of all their other toys.  I saved them a step, and hopefully saved Jessica from cleaning up stuffing.
Gourmet hot dog and pizza treats for the dogs who are particular about their treats.  Hopefully these will live up to their high standards. :)

Holly was not happy about giving all these away without so much as a quick play for herself.  She stood under foot the entire time I took pictures and packed the basket.  I guess I'll have to spoil her with some extra attention or something.  Niles and Frasier... I hope you enjoy everything, it was fun shopping for you.  Be nice to the UPS guy when he shows up in the next couple days! :)
