Nursery After

Farmboy did basically everything by himself.  He had some help from my dad sanding the walls to get rid of the awful popcorn texture and to help put up the crown molding.  Other than that he's been a very busy guy... all alone.
He sanded, caulked, and fixed cracks, then he painted the ceiling.  We did invest in a cool sprayer doohicky, so that helped!  He painted the top tan and the bottom brown.  Followed by painting and putting up baseboards, chair rail, and crown molding.
This is the close up of the chair rail.
Carpet came yesterday!  When I got home FB was working on caulking around the crown molding, so I went in there and rolled around on the new carpet with Holly.  Which led to FB having to pick me up off the floor.  Remind me not to do that while this pregnant again. :)

Here is the final product!  Don't you love that fan??  I'm so glad the room is finally done!  My parents are coming out tonight with dinner and a crib delivery. :)  Very excited to get some furniture back in there (and out of the living room).

In other news... Today is the last day of summer school!!  I'm so ready to sleep in and stay home with Farmboy!  However, this means there will be a significant decrease in blogging. :(  We don't have internet at home, except on my iphone.  I still haven't figured out the mobile blog thing.  I have a feeling I'll be checking up on y'all and reading what you have to say, but only posting occasionally.  So... have a great Independence Day!

Nursery Before "the junk room"

This is what our extra bedroom used to look like.  White walls with weird popcorn texture (but only some and only in some places), plus the super tiny border at the top.  Did anyone know they made borders that small?? I certainly did not.  We used this room for storing junk.  It was set up to look like it maybe could be a spare bedroom with a bed and tv, but was never used that way.

This was also my getting ready space.  All my hair stuff, makeup, perfumes, lotions, jewelry, and whatever else went in this room.  Also to the left of this picture was Holly's crate, which she hated.
This was also my shoe and hat storage, since our little closet barely holds our clothes. Throw in a few wedding gifts that went unused, and a few odds and ends that we couldn't find a proper home for... now you've got an idea of what this room held.

Now here's a little bit of what condition the room was in!  Our house is from the 40's, so it's in need of some touch ups in most rooms.  FB has done quite a bit, but there's still plenty left to be done.

The weird gap/crack between ceiling and wall was an easy fix with crown molding.
This is what the poor hardwoods look like!  I can't believe anyone would let this happen to beautiful old hardwoods.  We decided to recarpet it since we were running low on time and mulah.
The ceiling was peeling from when we had a leak.  Leaks are no more since last fall's new roof! Yay!
FB took the ceiling fan down and I love the new one that is there now.
This is more of the ceiling, after a lot of work patching, before the sanding and painting happened.

Stay tuned tomorrow is the big reveal of the room renovation.  Also in the next week or two there will be a post which includes furniture. I can't tell you how nice it feels to have the room almost ready!!

A little more than a year ago

It's crazy to think about what we were doing a year ago!  It's been a busy year.
October 3rd: Farmboy proposes
October 4th: The planning and dreaming goes full force
November 26th: I get another year older
December 25th: A really great Christmas season celebrating with both our families
March 2nd: Farmboy hits the big 30
April: Bridal Shower season, we have 3 showers
May 22nd: I become Mrs. Farmboy
June 1st: I go back to work with the itty bitty kindercampers
July ?: We went on our honeymoon... is it sad that I can't remember the date??
August: We both go back to school to start a new year (my 6th, his 9th)
October: Roofing our humble home, not a superfun experience but a needed one :)

And the roofing project continues... it goes on and on and on!

So this past weekend we started reroofing our house.  My hubby and dad started tearing off the shingles on Thursday, and we were still ripping it all off Saturday.  We lost some of our help due to stupid stuff, but I won't go into that drama!  Anyway, we're still working on it!  So ready for it to be done.  Of course it stormed on us Monday.  I ran around like a crazy lady with buckets, and every single mixing bowl I own.  It's all getting better now, at least it's dry!  OK, ladies sorry for my b-fest.  I'll post again soon, hopefully something more exciting.

Things I love starting with D

I woke up an hour and a half before the alarm.  Can anyone say excited about seeing her man... So I decided to go ahead and post my D love blog.  Hope y'all have a great weekend!

After reading bestie's blog of C love, I wanted to play along.  The Pink Tutu tagged me with the letter D.

1. Dogs: Holly in particular, but bestie's Winston is pretty amazing as well.  Farm Boy's been talking about getting a Siberian Husky, I'm all for another puppy in my life!  Been trying to convince the parents they need one.

2. Digital Camera: I just got a new one for Christmas, so hopefully there will be more photography in the near future.

3.  Desserts:  I love chocolate, cookies, frozen yogurt, brownies, all things sweet.  I blame my mother.

4.  Daybreak:  I'm a morning person and love to watch the sun come up.

5.  Downtime:  Lazy days are amazing!

6.  Drummond:   The Pioneer Woman is really funny.  Apparently this is what my future holds, except the part about calf nuts.  There's only so much a city girl can handle.  If you've never read anything from Ree go here.

7. Decorating:  Recently Farm Boy has decided his little house in the country's not as quaint as he'd like.  Everyday he asks something new.  Should I strip the paint off the doors?  Should I rip carpet up and expose the hardwoods?  Should I do something with that upstairs room? yes, yes, definitely yes  Should we dig up a path and put in a sidewalk from garage to door? yes  We should do that over spring break.... umm... we??  hehe just kidding, I don't think he realizes what he's getting himself into asking for my help w/ a shovel... probably more work for himself than he knows

8. Dallas:  While it will only be my home for the current year, I really do love the area.  It's been fun exploring the city and living really close to the best friend!
