Packing

Well this weekend was productive.  I got started with a little bit of packing Friday.  Followed by a less productive brunch and shopping with the girls, but it was definitely called for!  I mean really, I only have a week left in the city I need to take advantage while I can.  After that I had a small break down Saturday, including lots of tears but ending happily thanks to my incredible bestie and perfect (for me) boyfriend.  Today has been much less emotional and much more productive!
See?  The stack is almost taller than me.  That stack is from my closet and dresser.  I have too much junk!  The vacuum sealer bags helped some, but I still have a lot!  Really though, if you don't have those vacuum bags go get them!  In the box you see there is: a large down comforter, queen quilt, throw blanket, a huge bag full of sweaters, all of my fleece pajama pants, and long sleeve pajama shirts.  Before the vacuum sealer the sweaters alone took up one tub and the down blanket took up another.  Coolest invention ever!
This is the crazy mess that I call a living room.  There is a table back there somewhere.  Holly is looking more and more nervous as the weekend has progressed.  I believe her anxiety level goes up with each box.
For all of you who are not as crazy about their pets, you're probably thinking...really??  This chick is actually talking about her dog's anxiety... I say to you, why else would she hide under the bed?  OK so she'll be fine, but she has been extra clingy.  If she's not under the bed she's attached to my hip or under my feet.  I almost kicked her several times today.  That's why she'll be going to the "spa" when the professional movers come!  She'll finally be able to see without the bangs again.

I'm dreading this room!  Haven't even begun.  It's the wrapping everything breakable that I really hate!  Any suggestions to make this less tedious?  I need to just force myself to get started... maybe tomorrow after work. :)

Last day of school!

I'm officially done teaching for this school year!  We had a half day today, and my class couldn't even behave for 3 hours!  I had several get very bratty about the things I'd given them, two get into their usual pushing match over something dumb, and 3 decide to get into a screeching match randomly while I was trying to tell them how much I'd enjoyed them this year.  Wow, my kids have been nuts this year!  Needless to say I'm celebrating my last day of school!  Hope y'all have a great Friday night, I know I'll be celebrating.  oh yea... and packing

Aaay! My brain hurts with the excitement!

I was pretty much resigned to the fact that everything's in rerun days.  Then I turn to this!

So you think you can dance is the only reality/contest show I actually enjoy.  I fell in love with it one year while visiting Dallas.  Mrs. Newlywed and I watched an entire season in marathon fashion.
I flipped back to see Tim and Faith singing along as they sat in the audience of an all star concert.  Farmboy.... I know you tolerate my singing, but wouldn't it be nice to have a Faith Hill voice singing along to the radio? :)
They were there too.  I LOVE Sugarland!  Did I mention this concert was for George Strait.  He's ACM's Artist of the Decade. Yay!  Way to go George!
Then I flipped back to watch the judges laugh at a few sad souls.  They also passed the 20 year old widow and the girl whose father killed himself on the Las Vegas.  I'm not saying they were pity votes, just an interesting coincidence.  I personally really liked the girl who lost her father, she was good if she had kept her head steady.  Cat Deeley is super cute, even though she's Amazon-ish.  I still can't get over how tall she is.

Oh yea, then there was him again.  For being quite a bit older than me and married, he's pretty cute!  His wife is precious too.

These two sang too, aren't they cute?  Have I mentioned that I love country music, because I do.  Well my remote control needs a break, I think it's smoking a bit.  Anyway, I'm off to bed to recover from the excitement.

Talking Tuesday and weekend wrap up

OK... Sorry it's been about a week since I've really posted.  It's been just a tad crazy here lately.  First with grades due and this being the last week of school, then to top it all off I'm getting myself packed up.  I also took a little time off to enjoy my weekend. :)  Farmboy was here Thursday night, just in time to go to sleep.  Friday night we went to Wolverine and dinner.  I highly recommend the dinner part... not really as crazy about the movie part.  It was ok, just not my cup o' tea.  Saturday FB met a couple of my Dallas girls, we all enjoyed a yummy brunch.  FB helped me pack up my classroom belongings, so I cooked him dinner.  We rented movies and just vegged out Saturday night.  He had to head back to Missouri Sunday so he could go to middle of nowhere Kansas yesterday.  I got to spend Monday at the pool with the girls. Steph, Cat, Jen, Mrs. Newlywed, and I were super lazy all day.  We even had lunch sent down to us poolside.  I'm super proud of myself for not burning my skin to a crisp.

So.. today's talking Tuesday... Tell me something I don't already know about you!
I tie my shoes differently than everyone I know, including my entire family.  How I learned to tie my shoes?? I dunno... don't remember.  I just know I'm weird, and can't try to help my kids learn because I usually end up confusing them too.  OK there's something very few of you knew about me... Your turn!  Tell me something interesting

Talking Tuesday

Alright everyone... Today's Talking Tuesday is.....
Summer!

What are your plans?  Do you people with "real" jobs love summer as much as us teachers??  I gotta say after this last little bit of school is over I'm planning a nice looooong nap!  My kids have exhausted me lately!  I'm also moving, learning how to drive a tractor, taking my nieces out and about a bunch, probably meeting mom for lunch here and there, plus the exciting big family get togethers.  I really do LOVE summer!  So, do  you love summer like I do?  Why or why not?  What are your plans?  Where would you go on vacation given an big ole' vacation budget?

Yay!!

Farmboy will be here in 3 days, give or take a couple hours.  I couldn't be more excited!  I know I saw him at the beginning of the month, but it seems like the longer we date the quicker I need to see him again.  Luckily that'll no longer be a problem in 3 weeks.  So Dallas girls... What fun things should we plan over the weekend?  We've already hit the zoo, I'm thinking maybe Dave & Busters and Studio Movie Grill.  Which by the way I think I may try to convince my parents to open, and let me run.  I'm pretty sure either of those would make a killing in MO.  There's not much else to do there.  OK, so really, what am I forgetting?  This will be the last fun weekend in the Big-D.

Countdowns!

4 Days: Until Farmboy is here!
7 Days: Until FB leaves with a bunch of my classroom stuff
8 1/2 School Days: Until summer
3 Weeks: Until I'm back in Missouri
3 Weeks and 5 days: Rascal Flatts concert!  Yay!  I'm pretty sure Mom bought us tickets :)
6 Weeks: Family get together at the lake, so excited to see everyone and swim!
7 Weeks: Farmboy's family reunion.  I'll get to meet some more of his family.

I'm excited for all the fun summer stuff planned and fun unscheduled time too!
What are you counting down towards?

Ouch!

Yesterday the bestie and I went to an early movie then lunch and pedicures.  After watching Ghosts of Girlfriends Past, I felt the need to call Farmboy and love on him a bit.  Here's how the conversation went.

Me:  Hey love, I was just calling to thank you for not being an ass.  You treat me so well.  We just saw this movie and I felt like you needed to be reminded of my love and your amazingness...  blah blah blah... I went on about my love and the movie for a couple minutes.
Me: (Finally getting around to asking about him)  So what're you up to today?
FB: Oh, just sittin here at the hospital.
Me:  WHAAAAAAT!?  (yea, the people at the tables around turned to look)
FB:  Oh, it's nothing just cut my finger.
Me: Huh!? Are you ok?  How bad is it?  Are you getting stitches??
FB: No, I'm fine.  They just used that glue stuff and I got a tetanus shot.
Me:  Oh, well if you're ok I guess I should let you go, call me later?
FB:  OK, have a good afternoon w/ your bestie.  I love you.
Me:  Love you too, glad you're ok

Can I just say Farmboy would let me talk for an hour if I had that much to say.  He's always putting others first.  We talked later that night, and he said he wasn't going to tell me, because he knew I would've worried for nothing.  Which I don't think I freaked, well kinda, not nearly as much as I would've if I'd been there!  Part of me is really glad I've been far enough away to miss a couple of the trips to the hospital.  He's so calm about that stuff.  His sister got stung by tons of bees and they had to take her in for an allergic reaction.  When FB told me about that he was completely calm like it was no big deal.  Another part of me is sad that I couldn't be around to help out.  I would've kissed him n made it feel better, at least for a second.  Plus I would have waited on him while he rested his finger.  Maybe I'm being a little overdramatic about a cut, but hey that's me I guess.  Did I mention FB is amazing?  I don't know anyone who'd be more interested in my day at the mall than the fact that they're getting shots and bandaged up.  Good grief!  Well at least I've learned to lead with "What's up?" from now on!

I'll show you mine if you show me yours...

The lovely adventurous newlywed wants to see playlists, so I thought I'd post mine.  Partly because I was having trouble thinking of anything to write, partly because I tend to stay in the country genre with some exceptions.  It's the exceptions that I think you'll find amusing.  I've also gained a new appreciation for old school country from my FB.  So here goes, and don't forget to go check out my bestie's playlist and if you're feeling musical post your own.

itunes recent purchases and old favorites
  • Under Control by Parachute - never heard of them, but it's free this week.  I liked it so I got most of the album.  I really recommend She is Love.
  • Johnny & June by Heidi Newfield - Glad she went solo it was definitely the right move!
  • The Happiest Girl in the Whole USA by Donna Fargo - Farmboy suggested it today, said I'd probably like it.  Of course he's right, LOVE it!
  • Right Round by Flo Rida - Yes I realize this song is just a tad explicit but I still like it.
  • The Climb by Miley Cirus - OK so sue me I like Hannah Montana, I'm planning on stealing my nieces to go see her movie once I get back to Missouri in June
  • Big Green Tractor by Jason Aldean - The song pretty much sums up my summer plans, kinda
  • Bad Day by Fuel - It's just one of those songs you keep around for just such a day.  I went through a "bad day" kind of phase for a few months in college.  I also went through a huge Nickelback phase then too. Almost every album is on my computer.
  • If I Didn't Have You by Randy Travis - You've gotta love his voice, I mean for real.
  • The Show by Lenka - Farmboy can't help but picture me skipping through a field when he hears this.... or so he says
  • Love of a Lifetime by Katie Armiger - This will be played on my wedding day!
  • Boom Boom Pow by Black Eyed Peas - I like the whole 3008, two thousand late part.
  • Good Morning Beautiful by Steve Holy - Who wouldn't like a song about how perfect the guy's life is because he gets to wake up next to his woman??
There's my list... What's yours look like?

Talking Tuesday

Alright Girls, and at least one guy,
I come to you exhausted by my class!  I realize I'm not a parent yet, so part of this is just speculation.  However, if my child had to call me during the day because he/she was being disruptive I would not be happy!  There would definitely be major consequences.  So, parents, future parents, people who never plan on having kids because they may turn out like a crazy disobedient mess- what would you do if you had to meet with both teacher and principal about your child's behavior??  And a more general question for our talking tuesdays, what do you think of our country's overall child behavioral state?

Thanks for playing along with my Talking Tuesdays, I promise they won't usually be so serious.

Missed Mother's Day

I didn't get to do anything with my mom for Mother's Day.  I know I'm not the only one who lives away from their momma, but it kinda stunk today.  My parents spent the day cleaning up their yard from a bad storm that hit Friday.  They also drove around looking at a couple duplexes for me.  Aren't they sweet?  I think both Mom and Dad are ready for me to come home.  Four more weeks in the big city.

I missed out on celebrating Mother's Day, but I got to see this precious chubby baby!  Isn't he perfect?  He was christened today.  This is the adorable Chase, my cousin's son.  He slept through the entire service, and most of lunch too.  I got to hold him for almost 2 minutes, before the grandmas commandeered him again.

Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend.  Wishing everyone a great week to come.

YAY!!!

It's the weekend!  My dearest friend, Newlywed Wife, is here for the night!  We just finished dinner at the Macaroni Grill.  I had ravioli, yes I know super exciting.  We've decided I'm basically a 5 year old in the food area.  Tomorrow we're headed to a movie and lunch with the girls!  So excited!  Tonight we're having drinks and movie time, if I last through anything longer than the next 20 minutes.  Hope y'all have great weekend plans too!

Writing, Writing, Writing too many books!

My kids are doing a young author's project.  Each one has written a whole book about the topic of their choice.  I then typed what they wrote, so they could illustrate the nice typed version.  Needless to say I'm tired of typing, and reading incorrect grammar and spelling.  My kids have already checked out for summer, so most did not edit at all or even look up words they knew were wrong.  I'm off to finish typing their dedications and title pages, yuck.  I need a vacation.

Talking Tuesdays

Hello Friends,
I've decided to start something new.  It stems from my utter dislike of this day.  I mean really what's so great about Tuesday?  Monday may be a blah day, but at least we're coming off a 2 day break.  Then Wednesday starts the last part of the week, i.e. light at the end of the tunnel.  So I needed something to make Tuesday worth dealing with.
I'm starting Talking Tuesdays.  The say anything posts.  Each Tuesday I'll post a thought or question, and just ask for a little help from you.  Please comment!  You're welcome to tell me anything, whether it has anything to do with my post or not.  I know I have a few readers who rarely comment at all, so here's your chance to come out of the woodwork and make yourselves known.  I'd love to hear from you, mostly so I can check out your blog!  Feel free to give me some future Talking Tuesday Topics!

Today's Talking Tuesday Topic...
I've got a month left before Summer Break!  It's just a couple weeks too soon to start shutting down shop, so I need suggestions.  What should I do to make the next couple weeks interesting before I start the pack up/move home process??

Busy Weekend Wrap Up

Saturday Farmboy and I spent the day together, trying to get lots accomplished.  We stopped by his mother's house, searched endlessly for an apartment or house for me, shopped for gifts, and celebrated a birthday.  It was busy, like Friday, but really nice to spend the whole day together.  We looked far and wide for an apartment, but to no avail.  They either refused to accept Holly, which I just can't believe!  I mean really have you met my dog??  OK, just kidding I understand that rule just don't like it.  There were a couple people who told me they didn't know what would become available by June, umm... people, that's less than a month away!  I think we have a good place, but I didn't get to see the inside.

We also stopped by Academy to shop around, and get FB's nephew a fishing rod for his b-day.  Of course a trip to Target was my pick for b-day shopping.  I picked out a 10 game set with all sorts of fun games in a case for FB's nephew.  My mom, my sister-in-law, and my dear friend from high school all got beach towels for the upcoming swim season.  Mom was for mother's day, the other 2 were birthdays.  FB treated me to a lunch break before we hit the apartment hunt again! ugh!  We did stop in time to go back to Farmboy's to watch the Kentucky Derby, then we were off again to FB's brother's house.  FB's lovely sister-in-law made a great dinner, his nephew opened presents, we chatted about the farm and future plans, and played Chinese checkers out of his new game set.

Sunday was nice to visit with my parents.  My mom cooked breakfast, which was really yummy!  My dad took me to the airport, which is almost 2 hours away.  It's so nice of him to take care of me like that, and of mom by letting her stay behind and prepare for the workweek.  I got back to the city just in time to pick up Holly, then I went home and crashed on the couch.

4 more weeks of school and then it's back home.  There's a few exciting weekend plans in between, so I'm looking forward to all of that.  Have a good night everyone.

Leavin on a jet plane

Sorry for my blog absence lately.  This has been a super crazy week and weekend.  As you know I'm moving back to Missouri in June, so I came home for a quick weekend trip.  I took Friday off school, so Wednesday and Thursday were busy getting myself ready to travel and my class ready for a sub.  Friday I flew into the Tulsa airport.  I have never had any delay, cancellation, turbulence, or really any other major reason to dislike flying up until now.  I still cannot complain, but I was close to real distress.  We all get boarded in Dallas just fine, then just about the time we should be shutting the door and heading down the runway they come over the system to tell us that the Tulsa airport is shut down for weather.  We are basically stuck on the plane in Dallas with no further information.  I immediately go through a mental montage of all the news/dateline/60 minutes episodes about passengers stuck on planes for hours and hours without any hope for going anywhere or getting off the plane.  Yes, I know, that's a little drastic, but that's my immediate thought.  Luckily I had my ipod, so I played the music quiz thing on there for a while.  Thank Heavens we were only grounded for about 20 minutes, and landed just fine in Tulsa about 12:30.  Just in time for me to meet my parents, who were so sweet to rush me over to the school I'll teach for next year.  Since I'd interviewed over the phone, I still needed to meet the principal along with the rest of the staff.  After that meeting and tour of the school, my sweet parents rushed me to Farmboy's house so he could take me to his banquet!  Friday was filled with lots of rushing, but the whole weekend was a lot of fun.  I'll post more on that once I get back to Dallas, now I'm off to chit chat with the parents before they take me to the airport.
