Nursery After

Farmboy did basically everything by himself.  He had some help from my dad sanding the walls to get rid of the awful popcorn texture and to help put up the crown molding.  Other than that he's been a very busy guy... all alone.
He sanded, caulked, and fixed cracks, then he painted the ceiling.  We did invest in a cool sprayer doohicky, so that helped!  He painted the top tan and the bottom brown.  Followed by painting and putting up baseboards, chair rail, and crown molding.
This is the close up of the chair rail.
Carpet came yesterday!  When I got home FB was working on caulking around the crown molding, so I went in there and rolled around on the new carpet with Holly.  Which led to FB having to pick me up off the floor.  Remind me not to do that while this pregnant again. :)

Here is the final product!  Don't you love that fan??  I'm so glad the room is finally done!  My parents are coming out tonight with dinner and a crib delivery. :)  Very excited to get some furniture back in there (and out of the living room).

In other news... Today is the last day of summer school!!  I'm so ready to sleep in and stay home with Farmboy!  However, this means there will be a significant decrease in blogging. :(  We don't have internet at home, except on my iphone.  I still haven't figured out the mobile blog thing.  I have a feeling I'll be checking up on y'all and reading what you have to say, but only posting occasionally.  So... have a great Independence Day!

Nursery Before "the junk room"

This is what our extra bedroom used to look like.  White walls with weird popcorn texture (but only some and only in some places), plus the super tiny border at the top.  Did anyone know they made borders that small?? I certainly did not.  We used this room for storing junk.  It was set up to look like it maybe could be a spare bedroom with a bed and tv, but was never used that way.

This was also my getting ready space.  All my hair stuff, makeup, perfumes, lotions, jewelry, and whatever else went in this room.  Also to the left of this picture was Holly's crate, which she hated.
This was also my shoe and hat storage, since our little closet barely holds our clothes. Throw in a few wedding gifts that went unused, and a few odds and ends that we couldn't find a proper home for... now you've got an idea of what this room held.

Now here's a little bit of what condition the room was in!  Our house is from the 40's, so it's in need of some touch ups in most rooms.  FB has done quite a bit, but there's still plenty left to be done.

The weird gap/crack between ceiling and wall was an easy fix with crown molding.
This is what the poor hardwoods look like!  I can't believe anyone would let this happen to beautiful old hardwoods.  We decided to recarpet it since we were running low on time and mulah.
The ceiling was peeling from when we had a leak.  Leaks are no more since last fall's new roof! Yay!
FB took the ceiling fan down and I love the new one that is there now.
This is more of the ceiling, after a lot of work patching, before the sanding and painting happened.

Stay tuned tomorrow is the big reveal of the room renovation.  Also in the next week or two there will be a post which includes furniture. I can't tell you how nice it feels to have the room almost ready!!

Break the Ice

So I found this cool link with Jenn and perfectly imperfect.  I found that through Jessica at you are my color.  Anyway, I meant to post Friday but I got distracted.  That's happening more and more lately!  So here it is a few days late.  Next up are nursery renovation posts!

Perfectly imperfect Jenn

1) Tell one thing not many people know about you.

I doubt people realize just how much time I spend playing video games with my hubster.  We are addicted to Lego's Wii games.

2) If you HAD to change your first name, what would you change it to?

I can't think of any other name that would fit me.  When I was in Jr. High I wanted to be Alexa or something exotic like that.  ha That totally wouldn't fit me!

3) What are your 3 favorite songs of the moment?

Stuck Like Glue
Mama's Song
Anything from the Voice!  Loving that show right now.

4) List 3 goals on your life's to-do list:

Raise beautiful, well rounded, genuine children (yes more than the current one, possibly 4)
Impact the people around me in a positive, meaningful way
Follow the direction God has in store for our lives

5) What is one of your favorite quotes?
"Be the change you want to see in the world"  I can never remember who said that.

6) Fill in the blank: If I had an extra 10 dollars to spend . . I would buy __________?

Ticket to a movie, hopefully someone else has an extra 10 bucks to go with me.

7) What’s your birth date?

   November 26th, 1982   I'm a Thanksgiving baby

8) Do you have a hidden talent and if so what is it?

I can't really think of any hidden talents... I tie my shoes differently than every other person I know.  Including my family, I'm not sure how I learned if not from them...

9) What do you think of when you hear the word "blue"?

baby boys  I must have babies on the brain!

10) Finish this thought: I need . . .

   to get back to work.

The Giveaway Basket

Hopefully Niles and Frasier will enjoy their goodies.

Two Chilly Bones... a necessity for any Texas pup.  You just get it wet and freeze.  I haven't tried these, so Jessica will have to let us know if they're worth anything.
One of Holly's favs.. in blue instead of pink of course.  She especially loves it when I stick a big treat in the middle for her to shake out.  Actually I think she may kind of hate when I do that, she's lazy like her mama.
Two stuffing-free monkeys... for the dogs who rip the stuffing out of all their other toys.  I saved them a step, and hopefully saved Jessica from cleaning up stuffing.
Gourmet hot dog and pizza treats for the dogs who are particular about their treats.  Hopefully these will live up to their high standards. :)

Holly was not happy about giving all these away without so much as a quick play for herself.  She stood under foot the entire time I took pictures and packed the basket.  I guess I'll have to spoil her with some extra attention or something.  Niles and Frasier... I hope you enjoy everything, it was fun shopping for you.  Be nice to the UPS guy when he shows up in the next couple days! :)

Feeling brilliant right now!

So Jessica won my giveaway, but then couldn't email me. She figured out just how big a moron I truly am. No she's too nice to actually call me one, or even think that but it's true! Apparently when I put my email into my settings there was a typo! Oops fail on my part! I typed lovinaFRAMboy instead of lovinafarmboy. This explains why I haven't responded if anyone has tried to email me. It should be fixed now, but I make no guarantees. :)

In other news... Daisy is rollin around like crazy and we can watch her move now! Have I mentioned how great it feels to be able to call her by name?! Anyway enjoy your weekends.

OK... I am not talented enough to figure out how to show the random number generator in my blog. :(  I also can't figure out how to comment on about half the blogs I've visited today!  What's the deal with that?!

Back to what I was trying to say.... And the winner is...Jessica Renee at You are my Color
Now I'll be off shopping for her 2 adorable pups this weekend.  Jessica please email me your address and anything specific I need to know about your pooches.  I already have a few great ideas based on some of your posts. :)

Thanks to everyone for participating, I've enjoyed getting a chance to check out some new blogs!

It's Wednesday

I woke up hoping it was Friday and wasn't thrilled when I was conscious enough to realize it was only Wednesday.  On the bright side... Summer school is half way over!  Ten more school days until I get to sleep in!  Daisy is also becoming more and more active.  That or I can just feel every movement more.  I love that I can call her by name finally!!  Hope y'all are having a great week... don't forget to comment for the giveaway.

200th Post Giveaway and a BIG announcement

We went to to doctor yesterday.... and finally have a big reveal!
It's a Girl!
We went to Babies-R-Us afterward and did a little registering. :)  This is miss Daisy Ann's bedding.  (Picture from babiesrus.com)  We couldn't be more excited.  We are just so glad to know!

Now on to the giveaway.  I am going to do a doggy good basket for the randomly chosen winner.  I haven't gotten these things yet, because I plan to do a slightly personalized prize.  For example your rottweiler might have different toys than my shih tzu.  So enter to win and then I'll make a basket tailor made for your pup.  Also I will be making a donation to the Humane Society here in Joplin, as they are working so hard to join lost pets with their owners after the tornado.

1.  Follow me (1 entry)
2.  Post about the giveaway (1 entry)

Please comment seperately for each of these so I can use the random generator thingamajig.  I've never tried that, so we'll see how it goes. :)

Edited to add:  Sorry guys... guess you may be interested in an ending time.  I will end the giveaway on Friday June 17th.

TGIF!!

It's been a CRAZY week!!

1. End of regular school.  Our last day of school was Wednesday.  It was supposed to be Tuesday, but last week we missed a day for flooding.  It was crazy with awards assemblies and packing up and changing rooms to prepare for summer school.  Oh yea... and we had to blow up a billion little arm floaties for the little swimmers we'll have in summer school.

2. Beginning of summer school.  We started Thursday... yes that is the very next day... no break for this tired teacher!  Yesterday was an absolute zoo!  I'm doing Title for summer school, which basically means I don't have my own class of kids.  Since I don't have a class... I get pulled away to do anything that needs done urgently.  It was bus number information yesterday.  I spent most of the day in the office answering phones so the poor secretaries could try to figure out every single child's bus number.  The bus company failed to mention different bus routes due to summer school.  You'd think that would come up at some point before the day of... but hey what do I know.

3. FB is out of town.  Well actually at this moment he should be arriving back here.  He took his FFA kids to state convention or something.  Have I mentioned this is his 4th trip in a month??  So glad he's home for good this afternoon!

4.  Ducks.  When FB's out of town I'm in charge of all things living.  I'm not sure that is a job I should really be trusted with!  I don't really have to do much with them.  Just keep them fed and watered, but at 6:15 when you're trying to get yourself out the door it seems like a LOT.

5.  Fun stuff.  I'll end this crazy post with the fun part of the week.  Apparently I acted pathetic enough about FB leaving me all alone... so my mom suggested we go to a movie.  It was a nice celebration for the end of the school year.  My mom and a sweet coworker took me out on a "date."  We ate at the best Mexican place, then went to see Something Borrowed.  It wasn't until we left the theater and my coworker mentioned that it had been a book that it all clicked!  I'm slow sometimes... as if y'all hadn't figured that out.

My parents also had the weekly dinner.  So I got to see my chunky monkey nephew and one of my sweet neices.  Dad grilled chicken on a beer can and other yummy stuff.  It was a good distraction for me, and I never had to cook for myself.  That really is the best part. :)

Have a great weekend!!  Giveaway starts next week!!
