Daisy is Seven Weeks, and back to school

I survived my first week back at work.  I'd forgotten how much extra stuff there is in a classroom to get done every day.  I miss my Title 1!!!  My class is actually really good, just very talkative.  Plus the other 3rd grade teachers are super helpful.  I only cried Monday on my way to work and just a bit before school got started.  I blame that on a couple sweet teachers that came in and asked how I was and said they were praying for me.  They were too nice.. the nerve!

Daisy was at my mom's Monday and Tuesday.  Then she goes to a babysitter the rest of the week.  The babysitter is great, but she has to go to a nearby school to pick up a couple kids.  She apparently screamed all the way there and back all 3 days.  I'm not sure what to do about that.  I think the problem is that her natural schedule is to take a really good long afternoon nap, which is hard when you're getting carted here n there.  Hopefully she'll get used to the new routine, or I'd be really tempted to start looking for other options.  I'm just pretty sure we won't find anywhere as affordable.  Bleck  Wish I didn't have to even think about all that.

Daisy at 7 weeks
I think she's getting bigger.  We're going to have to up her bottle, because 4 oz. doesn't seem to be as satisfying anymore.  When you take the bottle away she wails.  She's starting to smile more at people and make eye contact when she's really awake.  If she's the least bit tired she zones out completely.  She's also making all sorts of noises.  I think she is starting to get more arm control.  She folds her hands while having a bottle, or she'll hold your finger.  I love that!!  Anyway that's Daisy this week.
I hate how little I got to see her this week.  We get home about 5 or 5:30, then hang out just a bit and she's in bed by 8 or 9.  There's usually a nap in there as well (which is what she's doing now).  I keep telling myself this is just the season we're in.  It'll get better as she stays awake longer, then sleeps better at night.  Plus there's always summer right? :)

Hope y'all had a great week, and enjoy your weekend.  I know I will!  I'm not going anywhere unless I have to, maybe church... we'll see.

Daisy is Six Weeks

Daisy and I went to my Dr. appointment yesterday.  She cried so much a nurse came in and held her so she wouldn't scream anymore.  I should have known better, she does not like being in her car seat if it's not moving.  She usually likes car rides and stroller trips, as long as we're moving.  Anyway, the appointment went fine after that.  The girls in the office loved Daisy's personalized diaper bag and her little dog attached to a binky.  The appointment messed up our morning so much she didn't take a nap until almost noon, then she slept for three hours!  Needless to say we still don't have much of a routine or schedule yet.  But Daisy's starting to work into a routine, when we don't mess it up by leaving home. :)
This is right before we went to see Daddy for the baby shower at his school.  We know how to make overalls hot!  I go back to work Monday, so I'll probably be AWOL for a while.  Hope y'all have a great weekend!

Early Morning Ramblings

IMG_0000093.jpg
--------------------------------------------------
I woke up at 5:15 this morning to tinkle, laid in bed for about 30 minutes. I couldn't get back to sleep, so now I'm sitting in my new favorite place! I'm in love with our new recliner in our new nursery with all our new baby stuff. No we won't be leaving the pack-n-play in the middle of the room. It will be in our room, so Daisy will be close for the first couple months.

Our shower was Saturday, and it was great! We didn't have many non-family guests there, but it was still fun. We also got more hand me down clothes. I gotta tell ya that has been such a huge blessing! A friend has a nine month old who has outgrown everything under 12 months, so she gave it all to me! Daisy has a MUCH larger wardrobe than FB and I combined! She also gave us her diaper cake, because her little one was in NICU so long mama never got to break into that size diaper. We also got a diaper cake from our shower. We planned on cloth diapering immediately, but we are going to wait until we run low on freebies to decide what to do next.

We also went to the doctor yesterday. She said she didn't think we'd make it to our due date. She thinks we'll have baby in the next week or two! FB is hoping for Thursday, and I'm just hoping for SOON! I would like her to wait for next week, so I feel a little more prepared to leave my classroom to the sub. I'm pretty sure I won't be at the back to school activities.

Well another super long post! If you're reading this, thanks for hanging in there! Hopefully we'll have a big exciting post soon! Fingers crossed

TGIF!!

It's been a CRAZY week!!

1. End of regular school.  Our last day of school was Wednesday.  It was supposed to be Tuesday, but last week we missed a day for flooding.  It was crazy with awards assemblies and packing up and changing rooms to prepare for summer school.  Oh yea... and we had to blow up a billion little arm floaties for the little swimmers we'll have in summer school.

2. Beginning of summer school.  We started Thursday... yes that is the very next day... no break for this tired teacher!  Yesterday was an absolute zoo!  I'm doing Title for summer school, which basically means I don't have my own class of kids.  Since I don't have a class... I get pulled away to do anything that needs done urgently.  It was bus number information yesterday.  I spent most of the day in the office answering phones so the poor secretaries could try to figure out every single child's bus number.  The bus company failed to mention different bus routes due to summer school.  You'd think that would come up at some point before the day of... but hey what do I know.

3. FB is out of town.  Well actually at this moment he should be arriving back here.  He took his FFA kids to state convention or something.  Have I mentioned this is his 4th trip in a month??  So glad he's home for good this afternoon!

4.  Ducks.  When FB's out of town I'm in charge of all things living.  I'm not sure that is a job I should really be trusted with!  I don't really have to do much with them.  Just keep them fed and watered, but at 6:15 when you're trying to get yourself out the door it seems like a LOT.

5.  Fun stuff.  I'll end this crazy post with the fun part of the week.  Apparently I acted pathetic enough about FB leaving me all alone... so my mom suggested we go to a movie.  It was a nice celebration for the end of the school year.  My mom and a sweet coworker took me out on a "date."  We ate at the best Mexican place, then went to see Something Borrowed.  It wasn't until we left the theater and my coworker mentioned that it had been a book that it all clicked!  I'm slow sometimes... as if y'all hadn't figured that out.

My parents also had the weekly dinner.  So I got to see my chunky monkey nephew and one of my sweet neices.  Dad grilled chicken on a beer can and other yummy stuff.  It was a good distraction for me, and I never had to cook for myself.  That really is the best part. :)

Have a great weekend!!  Giveaway starts next week!!

Two by Two...

We may need Noah to help us build another ark!  Yesterday was a CRAZY day!  I got to school in a downpour, and the downpour never stopped.  The day started off normal until about 9:30.  First we had to cancel our small groups to help the first grade teachers.  There was water flowing into their hallway, and they had to evacuate that hall.  Two of the classes came to our classroom, and the other 4 classes went to second grade rooms.  Everyone was doubled up 2 classes per room.  This process took a solid hour, moving everyone around and getting them settled.  Then since we couldn't have our classes, we got to help keep the students calm as they came through the lunch room.  Just as we finally get to sit down for our own lunch, they decide we need to just go ahead and call school off early.  So we had one hour to help teachers while they called all the parents to figure out how they'd go home at 1:00 instead of 3:00.  After all that running around, we had to get our rainboots, raincoats, and umbrellas ready.  We always load car riders into their cars at the end of the day, but with early out and all the craziness it was much busier than usual!  Needless to say, I went home VERY tired!  Plus the forecast has rain for the next few days!  I'm pretty sure we'll need an ark by the end of the week.

Hope y'all are having a dryer week!

Crazy Week!

I've been in professional development all week, and I've had about zero down time!  Learning a lot, but it's making me a lot more tired than usual. :)  Making my brain work too hard. Anyway, promise an update soon.  For sure next week with the BIG reveal!

Christmastime in full swing

It's December 1st and I'm still not quite in the Christmas spirit yet.  At school there's decorations everywhere, some of which I put up.  But our house.... nothing.  I really haven't gotten the desire to decorate the tree yet, but I think Farmboy and I will tackle it tonight.  So that's our evening plans... then I have to figure out what to get for everyone.  Wish me luck!

April: Bridal Shower season, we have 3 showers
May 22nd: I become Mrs. Farmboy
June 1st: I go back to work with the itty bitty kindercampers

October: Roofing our humble home, not a superfun experience but a needed one :)

School is now in full swing

Sorry it's been a while since my last post.  Nothing too exciting going on for us... just getting into the new routine.  It's hard going back to work when you've been out of the routine for a couple months.  Farmboy and I had a good labor day.  We just spent time with family and took a day trip to the "big" city to shop.  I really wanted a new raincoat, but we didn't find one I liked.  So today I ordered one online.

OK enough random info!  Hope you have a great weekend!

Snow, Snow, and more snow

Friday was our fifth snow day this year!  Normally that would be just fine with me, I do occasionally like to be a bum.  Never leaving my house, or my pjs for the entire day.  But this year, snow days matter a lot more to me.  When we chose our wedding date, I thought I'd have a whole week off after school.  Now with all the snow, we're going to school the day of our rehearsal dinner.  So all you married ladies... how much time did you have off before your weddings?  Anybody work the day before?  I'm hoping my superintendent will understand and let me use my personal days.  But if I'm not so lucky, anybody have any tips to keeping me sane?  I know that week will be crazy, so those of you who've already been there done that, help me out.

Snow.... cold.... REALLY COLD

So today is the forth snow day of the year.  That means my school kiddos have been out of school 3 full weeks.  I went Monday for teacher inservice, so I've worked one day in 2010.  I can't say that's too much of a bummer. :)  Except, that these days must be made up.  They will be made up the week before my wedding.  I was really hoping to have the whole week to get things ready, be relaxed and not crazy running around.  Now the last day of school will be the Thursday before our Saturday wedding.  I'm hoping my principal will be understanding and let me use my personal days at the end of the year.
I'm feeling a little stir crazy, definitely ready to go back to work!

OK now onto something a little brighter!  What'd everyone get for Christmas??  FB and I got a Wii from my parents, and some games from my family.  FB got me a couple date nights and some perfume.  I got jewelry, a couple cute things for the house, and a couple gift certificates.  Oh I also got a couple certificates for massages.  We've played Wii a LOT.  It was definitely a great Christmas.  Not because of the great gifts, but spending so much time with all the family.  We got to see both FB and my families on multiple occasions throughout the break.

So what was your favorite Christmas gift?

Sick at Home

This is the second sick day I've had to take this school year. I don't know if it's moving back from a different climate/environment. Or maybe it's just this year everything seems to be getting passed around. Whatever the reason that I'm getting sick more often is, it stinks! I hate missing work, it messes my kids' schedules up, they don't get the extra help they need, and I have to find people to cover my recess duty. Oh yea, and I really don't enjoy being sick. However, I did enjoy not getting dressed and ready, and watching all the morning shows. What's your take on sick days? Have you noticed an increase? What's your fav/least fav thing about them?

Surprise!! Surprise!!

I came home from a loooong day at school today.  We had our open house for parents and kids, so I just stayed there instead of driving clear home just to go back.  Anyway, when I came home I was welcomed be not just one but two surprises!

The first was the cutest card from Farmboy!  He found a really sweet "Hoops and YoYo" card that talks of course.  He was here to take care of lil' Holly, who would of been doing the "I have to tinkle" dance for quite a while without him.  I'm so glad he likes my lil girl!  Thanks love!

The second surprise is the wonderful layout change!  I do love my Adventurous Newlywed!  She's so great!  I could say that this was planned change to celebrate the 100th post, but I'm not that with it.  So instead I'll just say thanks to her, and Happy 100th Post to everyone else.

Help!

I'm on a hunt for girly desk organizers and a desk calendar.  I've gone to all the stores in my local area, which I must say not promising.  The lovely Target has cute stuff, but I had higher hopes for my desk.  See this year I just have a desk, because I'll be helping in other classes not teaching my own.  I'll pull small groups of kids to help reading.  So since I don't get to go full out with a whole room, my desk gets all the brunt of my need to decorate.  So my friends, please fill me in where am I forgetting to look??

You know it's time to go back to school when...

When you feel like yelling at Meredith Vieira after she starts each news story.  I mean really... We know more about the beer choices of the pres, vp, and 2 guys who should've never made it to TV, but very few of Americans could name their senators.  We hear all about how well the two women are getting along with each while figuring out a custody battle of celebs kids, yet we hear nothing about the hundreds of thousands of kids in foster care needing loving stable homes!  Ugh! I feel a few different rants coming on all at the same time!  I'm just saying the things media feel like putting on TV is so out of whack lately.  Don't even get me started on the seven year old joy-rider whose only punishment is no TV or video games for 4 days, yet he gets to go to NYC and be on TV. UGH!!

It's time for me to get back to school and stop watching morning news shows.  It's also time to take Holly outside, she's looking out the door longingly!

Isn't she cute?? Sorry for the ranting, I promise my next post will be more entertaining.  Oh and if you were wondering about the go-carts... I totally won!  Farmboy couldn't come close to my speed and skill. :)  The second game my niece and her friend totally beat all of us, in one of those double carts!

Last day of school!

I'm officially done teaching for this school year!  We had a half day today, and my class couldn't even behave for 3 hours!  I had several get very bratty about the things I'd given them, two get into their usual pushing match over something dumb, and 3 decide to get into a screeching match randomly while I was trying to tell them how much I'd enjoyed them this year.  Wow, my kids have been nuts this year!  Needless to say I'm celebrating my last day of school!  Hope y'all have a great Friday night, I know I'll be celebrating.  oh yea... and packing
